Día de Muertos Celebrations in Mexico City

These days, Mexico City becomes one of the most popular destinations due to the traditional Mexican festivities that take place in the town of Mixquic. The City Government organizes various activities to commemorate the Day of the Dead, such as the Mega Parade and the Mega Offering in the Plaza de la Constitución.

One of the most deeply rooted traditions in Mexico is the celebration of the Day of the Dead, where children go out to ask for calaverita and sweets, and deceased relatives are honored with offerings. The Festival of Bread of the Dead takes place at the Palace of Autonomy of UNAM from November 1 to 3, with an entrance fee of 30 pesos.

The Mega Parade of the Day of the Dead in Mexico City is scheduled for November 2, with a route of 8 kilometers from Chapultepec to the Zócalo. During this parade, Mexican families usually decorate the graves with marigold flowers and other traditional elements such as papel picado, sugar skulls, and typical dishes.

In addition to the festivities, the capital is filled with memes and preparations for costume parties, while social media circulates images and content related to Halloween and the Day of the Dead. Among the numerous activities, the custom of donating to the graves is also highlighted, keeping alive the tradition and spirit of this colorful Mexican celebration rich in symbolism.
